UNL Turfgrass Field Day, July 17

The field day this year will be a fast paced, hit-it-and-go-get-it event with lots of great practical information and cutting edge research. The agenda includes:
  • Latest research on strategies to control nutsedge
  • Best blues and ryes for Nebraska
  • New application equipment for lawncare
  • Latest data from the NGCSA sponsored organic matter research project, low maintenance turf alternatives. (This is an eight state regional project that UNL is involved in, looking at non-traditional species for turf in the region)

The UNL mobile diagnostic facility will also be featured. This is a unique, self-contained mobile trailer equipped with advanced diagnostics tools to assist in making the right decision for pest management strategies. The fee normally charged for diagnostics samples will be waived for any samples brought in for diagnosis.

Nebraska Nursery & Landscape Association Field Day, Friday July 25

We are planning guided tours all around Lincoln. The Lincoln Landscape Field Day was a hit before and will be unique, fun and educational. Time to see some great landscapes, enjoy Maxwell Arboretum, get first hand information on how a wholesale grower operates and stop and smell the flowers at Lincoln Sunken Gardens, Lincoln's prize garden in the middle of the city.

The day will begin at East Campus with coffee, juice, rolls, plenty of parking and lots of visiting with friends. Buses and guided tours will roll at 9:00 am. Some of our Lincoln Nurseries/Landscapers have graciously asked their private customers to open up their yards to us. The Landscapers will be on hand to talk about the private landscape.

We meet up again at the Sunken Gardens at 12:00 noon and enjoy a guided tour of the gardens. We can then grab a Brown Baggers lunch and sit in the midst of all the beautiful gardens.

Buses will roll again about 1:45 - 2:00 and head out to more private landscapes and Heritage Nursery West. Buses will return to the East Campus about 4:30. A full day of education, camaraderie and new ideas to take home!!!

It is a unique experience to be able to view private landscapes, tour a gorgeous arboretum, learn from a successful wholesale grower and to hear about starting, funding, and maintaining a public garden. Don't waste another minute, sign up now for the NNLA Field Day.
